A stock Z28 automatic would run approx. 14.40 according to car and driver an SS 6 speed approx 13.9. now that is a Z28 with the LS1 engine. the ones with the LT1 were slightly slower than that. 1998 was the First year for the LS1 in the F body. Spray 50 on your B16 and if you can drive you can hold your own on the street. Before i did the B16 swap in my 89 hatch, i had a ZC i was spraying 70 on, ran a 14.40. i'll be spraying 50 on my B16 as soon as i'm done my ground up restorationby the way, how do i post pics??

car and driver is lame....guys with stock ls1's can do high 12's. auto's will do high 13's. i have personally seen modded b16 slighty stripped rex's get anal raped by stock z28's...don't try to throw up numbers, because i've seen modded b16's only runnin low 15's. one more thing...to run those kind of times in a b16 you gotta launch HIGH and hard...something you can't do on the street. don't put slicked 6k rpm clutch drop times for a street car....you can't do that on the street.

i know yall are going to flame me...but i'm just saying...i think most people are a little dissapointed after a swap. they think they're going to smoke camaros and stangs...and fact of the matter is, all you can do is 'keep up' with them when they're STOCK.

as i stated in my first reply... every engine is different... every b16 is different... Most, hince the word "most", b16swapped into a hatch or crx should be running mid to high 14's... Monte Carlo SS i have beat easily, them new 4.6 stangs i have beat also, z24, z28's i raced, beat a couple jus straight drag, on the highway, they will pull... better top end... street and strip is very different... sure a car runs 14.1 at the track but on the street, its a whole different story... driver also plays a big role in racing... every car is different, every engine different, every driver different...

remeber guys times vary by sea level..
My b16 (which we just finished) with I/H/E runs lows 15's here in Tucson, AZ. In pheonix it would be high 14's. the altitude effects eveverything...a stock mustang 5.0 with a experienced driver is in the mid 15's..food for thought =]

webpage, yeah it's lame.

well, if you disappointed with ytour swap, spray 50 on it, i gaurantee you won't be disappointed anymore. You wont be able to spray unbtil the top of second gear or else you'll blow the tires away. especially if you've got an S1 tranny. sure, we all would love to have a turbo, but economically speaking, nitrous is the way to go. If you understand the principles and don't abuse it, you'll be fine
Chris
p.s. i know the magazines suck, but i have seen a stock 98 Z28 run 14.40's all day long
at the track.

man what are you always talking about monte carlo SS's? old ones or the new ones. old ones had like 190hp 305's and the new ones are 200 hp v6 automagics. those things are freakin slow...i don't know why i always see you talking about beating those. p.s.- i've seen stock 98 z28's running 13 flats all day long. it's more common to see good times out of a z28 than it is to see mid to low 14's out of a b16 rex/4g. most of the time they're hardly breaking 15's. guess you guys in the 14's are just GREAT drivers..
